This wonderful doll has been taught online for two years. The class is very well-written and well-loved. There are over 150 pictures with lots of details- needle sculpting, face painting, two styles of shoes, and plenty of ideas- there’s something here for everyone. No doubt this doll will be a great learning experience and an heirloom for many years to come!

The class is now retired.

I have received many emails asking me to please continue the class, so I'm making it available to you as an e-pattern for a fraction of the original cost.  It isn't a classroom environment, but I am always available by email for discussions!

COURSE DESCRIPTION
Ruth is a doll of great expectations. A very unusual pattern makes her pregnant tummy possible! During the Civil War era, a popular dollmaking style was a flat-bottomed torso and legs sewn right into the bottom seam so the doll can sit. Modeled after this vintage style, Ruth is no antique! The pattern concept has been altered and developed to take it to a whole new level. Ruth doesn’t sit- she stands proud and so will you! Are you ready for a challenge? Learn fabulous dollmaking techniques from a teacher on the other side of the globe. Get a taste of Mediterranean flair and create a charming Middle-Eastern garment suited just for Ruth- maternity style!

Lesson #1- torso- Just wait until you see how this is done…. I promise it's like nothing you've ever seen before!

Lesson #2- bust, hands, arms- Add the finishing touches on her shapely figure, and even sculpt the breast. Turn little fingers, too!

Class #3- legs, feet - I will divulge my secret leg-attachment technique! There are two separate foot patterns to choose from- one with "shoes" beaded right onto her feet, and the other bare with sculpted toes. I’ll also explain how to make your own sandals to fit this and any doll.

Class #4- Garments - We'll talk about Mediterranean clothing, learn a little history, and see some interesting pictures. Then, we'll make the dress- maternity style! Embellishing is done with beads and lovely trims. I'll conjure up a kit for you- gorgeous Israeli textiles you won't find anywhere else!

Class #5- Head, Needle sculpting- First, we'll talk about anatomy of the face. We will see how needle and thread simulate facial muscles to: Create a delicate smile, make the eyes “set in”, define nose bridge and nostrils. There are over 25 pictures to guide your needle and thread through the sculpting process! Learn how to measure around the face to mark important landmarks for sculpting.

Class #6- Coloring the face, attaching the hair, attaching the head- We'll see how to plot the facial features

properly, learn about shading, draw eyes and lips realistically, and how to achieve beautiful results with watercolor pencils and professional sealers. You CAN do it!
