Rivkah(Hebrew for Rebeka) wears the word 'experience' very high on her "sleeve of many colors."
Originally from New York, she obtained her BA, advanced to a prestigious MA program in Communication Sciences, and later relocated to Seattle, where she made her career as a project manager in an upscale commercial lighting / interior design firm.
After several memorable years in the Pacific Northwest, Rivkah relocated yet again-this time with her family- to Israel. Fascinated (and sometimes frustrated) by her novel surroundings and culture, she learned how to internalize it all by incorporating it to her old love- art. In Seattle, being a full time artist was but a dream.
Rivkah's dolls have been exhibited in the Us and around Israel, and appear in “Art Doll Quarterly” Magazine and Patti Medaris Culea's book “Creative Cloth Doll Faces.” She is currently set to publish work in a new book from Rockport publishers, and has had articles submitted and accepted for upcoming doll art publications like Dolls United, Soft Dolls & Animals, and others.
Each doll is a one-of-a-kind collectible. The media used to create them range from artists' clays to finely needlesculpted cloth, new materials, beads, crystals and exotic textiles. They are intricately sculpted, painted, embellished, and created with heart and soul.
Rivkah teaches her dollmaking skills online and in person, and offers several cloth doll patterns, unique handmade supplies and Israeli Fabrics.
Artist's Statement
Art is meant to be enjoyed. I do.
I'm what they consider a "mixed media artist." What's that? Someone who keeps a plethora of mixed media on her palette, I suppose- a good philosophy for life!
When inspiration is abound and ideas fly freely, my task is containing them. A lump of clay, a bit of fabric, a dab of paint on a paintbrush... My tools feel like magic wands.
My greatest inspiration is fantasy : faeries, goblins, and woodlands "creatures" who live in some sort of enchanted forest. They represent "the impossible." Creating them makes me honestly believe that nothing is truly impossible.
